... week we had our Powhiri. I met a girl called Gypsie who I’m now friends with. The Powhiri is a Maori welcome ceremony; we had to touch noses with the teachers and got a big feast afterwards. This is done to welcome you into their community. Nothing much happened on the second week expect for on Thursday and Friday we had a camp for years 8,9,10. It was in Raglan on the harbour mouth. Where do I start? New Zealand is beautiful, it smells amazing and the weather is great (touch wood), what's not to love? But I do miss the cold weather in a weird way. A lovely welcome at Jim's from Fleur, his fiancÚ, Isobel and Sophie, two of his daughters. We had only met Fleur and Jim's youngest daughter, Sophia, when she was a baby and they came to stay with us during the 2012 Olympics. Sophia has turned into a real character playing up for the new visitors but not entirely trusting any of us apart from Ruth.
