... and even though the bus driver must have thought he was in a racing car we arrived safely.

We took the usual photos from the viewing platforms, had lunch of fishy dumplings and wantons with noodles and soup (really looking forward to a burger with chips).

Next objective we thought to follow a map on a board which showed a circuit around some gardens with special items of interest along the way. We really should have taken a photo of that ...

... as gifts back home so I felt less bad about eating all their samples =). Dan LOVED the Chinese jerky. He ate a whole piece (about the size of a letter-sized piece of paper) in the same evening!

We caught our evening ferry back to Hong Kong and got back to our hostel just after midnight. It was a good day filled with walking and snacking. Time to collapse in bed and sleep zzzzzz…..

... freedoms.. Later that evening I went out again to take some more photos of the protest and find dinner. Because the main food streets were croweded with police, protesters and onlookers, I ended up eating at a spanish tapas restaurant closer to the hostel in an upscale shopping district. People at the restaurant were serenaded by two men with guitars. I was expecting them to sing Spanish songs but instead they mostly played "Happy Birthday" and "Hey ...

... business or at least that is how it felt. As well as providing us with the address, the very nice lady in the tourist office also marked the precise location of the consulate on my map. Excellent. We get to the area marked, and cannot find the Great Smart Tower anywhere. Uncharacteristically the two people we asked for help were, singularly unhelpful. ... the doorstep of the apartment for about half an hour. Exhausted!!! Organised stuff to ship back to Australia. Rushed to post office, just made it. 5:50pm HKD 23 box 9 tape 254 shipping 7kg to Australia, should take 4-6 weeks. Hiking boots clothes stethoscope bags and scarves.
