        ... and their historical society has done a wonderful job of marking sites, but I find it loud and busy for a small town. The park area we are in however is very peaceful.... all we here are ducks and blue jays. We will move on to Lock # 5 in a day or so where we are told we can dock overnight in a pretty park, and then on to Mechanicville at Lock #3. ...

        ... high cement wall- Marty put our little bench out so I can get on and off the boat. I am amazed by the architecture here.... so many wonderful old buildings with elaborate wood carvings. Some are in great shape and have beautiful paint jobs, some out of the main district stand waiting for someone to care and restore them back to their former magnificence. I don't think I have seen so many buildings that I felt I really needed to take pictures of in so ...

        ... Crown Point and stopped overnight at Fort Ticonderoga. The winds were supposed to be from the south and then west, so we anchored above the Fort area to be protected. There was no wind at all in the end, we should have gone to the south anchorage.... as we passed it by the next day we saw it had a much better view. It was a very quiet sleep after the ferry stopped, and after the gazillion birds finished their convention in the trees nearby. ...

        ... black flies that cause quite a stir on the raft as people smacked each other in attempts to kill the miniature beasts. Well we survived the rafting trip and headed out to our next destination of Vacation Village in the Berkshires, a timeshare just outside of Albany across the MA border. We arrived safetly and checked in to our hotsy totsy new accommodations complete with a bed and TV's. Looking forward to what our new location can provide entertainment wise, we retire for the night.

        ... We collected some Garnets from the area and headed back to the camp. At a nearby camp, we met a newly-wed older couple, and I taught my son the art of patience as we spent the better part of an hour listening to their drunk tales. Well, maybe I am stretching it a little. I practiced the art of patience, Alex is already pretty laid back. We returned to our camp where I swung in my hammock and enjoyed the quiet.
