    ... to buy groceries and toiletries because they are so cut off from the rest of Mexico. The next closest town being 200 miles away. Then September 11 happened and we closed the border. It remained closed for 12 years, reopening in 2013. In that time the little village became almost a ghost town with only 3 ranching families remaining.     ... wedding season here, now that the humidity has dropped. A wedding is a 3 day celebration here. The Buddhist chanting, bells, gongs and drums are broadcast over a PA starting at 5:30 am for 3 days, and culminating with a big catered dinner party, karaoke, live band and dancing lasting til the wee hours.
