Nora and I creaked our eyes open with
the sun, being used to getting up at 5.00 every day. But, us not
having to be anywhere until 10.30, we shut them and dozed off again.
At around 8.00, we made moves to get up. We showered and talked with
Patty, then decided to bike to South Bank for brunch instead of
        busing it.

I was fit up with Patty's commuter road
bike and Nora rode my cheap maroon beast. We got our ...

Holy business, Batman! I have so many
details in my head right now, I feel I may explode! Between
organizing the Tasmania leg of my trip, the Lamington National Park
camping trip this weekend and then regular journal upkeep and cooking
dinner, there are not enough hours left in my day!

        I had an orange-grapefruit-soymilk
smoothie and a peanut butter and honey rice cake, then zipped off to
work. There were a remarkable 13 vollies today! I ...

... Elwyn loved the scary rides and there's no worries about him being car sick! Sal worked out of Brisbane through the week and we set off with Pete and Ri and the children to camp at Murphys Creek in the Upper Lockyer, just where the devastating floods started in 2011. It is a great family camping ground and Pete had booked a 'spoke' which is an area that takes several tents ...

set us up with cleaning with five aviaries on the back wall that we
can enter. There are another five that volunteers cannot enter for
safety reasons. I got right to it and Sandy instructed Olly on the
methods, cleaning the varied lorikeet/red-tailed black cockatoos and
        the Ecelectus parrots.
        At one point, I
brought Sandy more mulch for her cassowary-weighing project. She had

... a picture taken with one and then there was no stopping her! On the wall in the shop showed Pope John Paul II with one, we have finally made it. True pillars of the community!

We fed the Kangaroos - that was amazing! They are so adorable, gentle and but some of them are bloody huge. We kept looking for the wee ones as they were shy to get food from people. We made sure they got their fair share. We do like an underdog - tartan army ...
