Its our last day on Mackinac and we enjoyed our last Grand Hotel meal at the breakfast buffet, and went to the Eucharist to wrap up the conference. ... dumb stuff our kids did (luckily Mom didnt add to that conversation :- ) We learned our lesson after last night and skipped a few courses (not dessert of course - ice cream, chocolate sauce and nuts (thinking of Dad!) Finally pushed away two hours later in time for cocktails and conversation with the good folks of Eastern Michigan (Mom had...a diet coke...:- ) and headed back to room 336 for a slightly earlier bed time. ps.I didnt realize women were required to wear dresses, skirts or "very nice pants suits" after 6:30pm...they will be seeing A LOT of the one skirt I brought!
pps. Dinner was too much from appetizer to soup and salad to whitefish to dessert. I think we are on a landlocked cruise ship (including imported wait staff counting the days to return to Jamaica!)
... lay of the land. The campground offers electric at sites and we decided to test our use of water and how much we fill the tanks over 3 nights. However, with outhouses available we made full use of these as much as possible.
The next two days proved be be rain and wind which gave us a chance to organize and but didn't stop us from Geo-caching and hiking. There are tons of caches in the park ...
After departing Alpena with following John & Rita we followed highway 23 through Cheboygan to the bridge. Connie got a great picture of the magnificent bridge as we crossed it onto the Upper Peninsula (UP), beginning our Yooper experience. Both Lake Michigan and Lake Huron are really only one body of water, sharing the same water level elevation.
