The night we stayed at the Fontana Hilton, Ahab (Anna), the hiker Mooch had been hiking with when we were separated for a few days, caught up to us. The next morning, Smokescreen was out in the trail early as usual, but Mooch and Ahab took a long time getting ready to go, actually cooking for breakfast. I left a little later than normal, leaving …

We returned "home" and settled down for the night.

It was not a comfortable ride at all. As Jude said, we used our imagination on what it would have looked like, especially in the fall. This is a ride I would live to come back and do. Of note, at the foot of the Cherohala, there is a visitor ...

... the GPS told us there was a 26 minute slow down on our
travel route and it was right. An extra half hour was spent in a
couple of thousand car traffic jam due to a small road accident.
We've been very blessed to have barely any problems with traffic or
at least unexpected traffic. We knew driving around major cities that
there would be some level of congestion. But apart from this hold up,
there has been hardly anything else so that has been ...
