Nice sunny day to ride, a bit chilly in the morning, but it was nice and toasty (68 degrees in Fairbanks). Got to Fairbanks to get the bikes into Outpost Harley Davidson for an oil change, and new tires for Larry's bike.

Today we set off from Fairbanks at 8am on the Wilderness Express train in a glass domed carriage for the 4 hour journey to Denali. We enjoyed a great breakfast in the dining car of local Alaskan foods including Reindeer sausage and Birch tree syrup on the mandatory breakfast pancakes. ... the story of our trip. We also visited the Fur Factory - lots of furs to see. We were going to buy Izzie a pair of fur moccasins but $65 was a bit steep. We stopped at the Cookie Jar to get a early dinner before our red eye flight back to Raleigh.

We had a great trip to Alaska. We have a week in Raleigh and then we are off to Hawaii.

... rust colour today to add to all the green and golds of the aspen. The countryside had obviously suffered from a massive wildfire as there were heaps of dead pine trees. They do not regrow as our gums do, they have to start from scratch and because of the elevation, they are very slow growing.
