We took a day trip to the town of White Springs, FL. There is quite a bit of stuff to see. I wish that the Adams Country Store would have been open. Looking in the windows showed that there were many great antiques. We were told that they only open when there are activities going on in town.

We stayed outside Colombia SC Monday night and planned to stop around Brunswick GA last night. We were making such great time (interstates) that we pushed on through to FL. We are staying at Stephen Foster State Park in White Springs. This was our first stop three months ago when we started so we thought we would make it our last. Of all the campgrounds that we visited this is still one of the most beautiful. We toured the Museum and Carillon today something we didn't get ...

A number of trucks travel this road many of them carrying lumber heading to the paper mill down near St. George, GA. You have to drive down the east side then into Florida and back up the ...

Off to Waycross, GA this past weekend, for our first ever trip to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. Also a good excuse to break in "Sue"....the not-so-clever name we came up with for the Outback on the way home (Sue-baru/Subaru).

Part of the allure of the trip was getting to see my best friend from high school -- Lee Stanford -- and his wife Rebecca. They now live in Waycross and we met Friday night for dinner. ...

    Poking Around Okefenokee!

A travel blog entry by pykesonthego on Nov 26, 2012

A great day for a half hour drive to Folkston, lunch in the folksy Okefenokee Restaurant, and then a flat-bottomed boat ride through the Okefenokee Swamp, where we saw a Barred Owl, Sand Cranes, White and Great Blue Herons, and an Alligator or two!
