Waking up was bittersweet on this morning as it meant that it was time to take down our tent and leave the Smokemont Campground for the last time. You can't ask for more in a campground; it had a tent pad, fire pit, picnic table, and was nestled right at the foot of the Great Smokies. If you ever go camping in the Smokies, this is place is …

Coming into Tennessee, traveling through the Great Smokey Mountains was a magnificent sight. The valleys seemed to be littered with cabins and small cottages something out of a painting in Europe. The rolling hills filled with brown and green while the shadow of the mountain range in the background gave it a natural appeal to the winding spaghetti highway I was on. One day Colleen, her friend Jane, and I, traveled ...
Day 1 - Friday night, we drove from spartanburg to gatlinburg and arrived at the river terrace. It was lightly snowing on our ride up and was it was still snowing when we got to gatlinburg. We got to our room and then went for a walk to get ice cream. We got back to our room for some nice fireside time and relaxing. Day 2 - Saturday we woke up late, had some pop tarts and researched for going to ober gatlinburg. After riding up ...
... Abbotsford and we've enjoyed every minute of this trip, but it's nearly over as we're scheduled to get on the plane on the 14th so only one more week and our trip into the south will be over. ... LOL. I had to take a pic of that because it says it all!
When we got back to the hotel I got a text from Bonnie saying that they just announced they were opening the park first thing in the morning! I immediately felt like I screwed up booking the ...

The room was small but perfect if all you're looking for is a roof over your head, a bed to sleep in, and a shower. It was clean and even had a ~ 32" flatscreen TV if you just want to chill and relax. Plus, it's right in the center of Gatlinburg. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to spend most of their trip outside the hotel room.
