What caught our attention of this motel was the majestic mountain goat hanging out on the front lawn... not a statue but a real one, grazing and minding its own business. This was a great place to rest after a long day of driving.

From Grande Cache, we were strategically just a few hours away from Jasper National Park. Another stunning day of driving as you can see from the Dashboard Report. Sunny, few clouds and surprise surprise, stunning natural views. We saw mountain goats being harassed by humans just a few km into the park - a father and son team tearing branches off …

Jaquie the owner was there when we called in and informed us that the greyhound bus which departs once everyday scheduled a stop at the springs but went on to say that getting back might be a bit trickier. Some of ...

... shall see I guess. Our original intention had been to make it to Banff today but the long wait at the border changed our minds. As I said yesterday, IF we can get into the National Park tomorrow we very likely will not have wifi, so there may be a day or two break. I am giving you fair warning (unlike my dear friend Mary R. who dropped off the grid for several days and almost gave several of us heartburn worrying) so don't worry! We drove 221 miles ...

We started the day off gently with a swimming the hot springs. Pumped directly off sulphur mountain behind. A constant 40 degrees. It was hot, but very enjoyable. We got the gonadal up sulphur mountain and walked the last kilometre to the summit. Such amazing views. Hundreds of chipmunks everywhere but no mountain goats/bears or moose. We had a wander round the town which ...

... along the 2.5 mile trek to the nearest road. When they ask an employee there to take out the trash, it is not a casual request - it has to go all the way down the trail! The tea house offers over 100 varieties of tea and a selection of sweets and sandwiches. We had Market Spice tea and shared a piece of apple crumble (sort of like an apple crisp). In case you were wondering, it took me almost 2 hours to go up, and ...
