We were supposed to go to Great Basin National Park today, but it was rainy and foggy, so we decided to just stay at home for the day. It was the first "rainout" we have had in our 5 trips cross country. We worked on the blog, took naps, watched golf and did the laundry - nice to have a relaxing day. ...

... no frills hotel staff, deer heads and old guns on the wall, old time murals, small casino, walk of fame of past Hollywood guests. You can even stay in the Mickey Rooney room (which the cleaning lady let me check out)! This place is even dog friendly, gives drink coupons and is only $50/night. Now that’s my kind of deal!

    Great Basin Nat. Park

When I left the salt flats I took a detour into Nevada so I could visit the state's only Nat. Park, Great Basin. It's actually a series of basins separated by mountain ranges. Definitely a park with highs and lows. The low is Lehman Caves, a wonderful system. So far, second only to Carlsbad. It is a single limestone cavern, only about a quarter-mile long, but almost every inch is decorated with all the standard ...
