... I saw my first wild Mountain Goats at a long distance high up on the cliff walls. Also saw a huge, magnificent Golden Eagle soaring and numerous Spruce Grouse (aka Fool Hen since you can kill them with a stick or rock). Not only was this a fantastic campground which we had all to ourselves, the design was terrific from a bear perspective with a completely separate cooking/living area well away from the campsites. Wall lake and the ...
Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, Canada tombuttleRiding in Glacier National Park can't be beaten except for the construction. Mind you the benefit was being stopped on some of the highest vistas of the park for more photo ops. The three stops made the ride very long but the weather was perfect and you could chat with the other poor souls trapped in the traffic jams as they waited to roll through loose gravel.

Crowsnest Pass Alberta, Alberta, Canada amandamay... cattle grazing. There are alot of horse ranches as well. When we got to Calgary, a town of over a million people,, it rained so hard we could hardly see. There we were in 3 lanes of traffic. For the most part everyone slowed down and stayed in their lane but there were a few "jerks". One even rear-ended a car just ahead of us. Other than the rain the day has been sunny with a high of 71. We are trying to bring the warm weather home.

... animals.
Analysis of the butchering apparently demonstrates a strong preference for the meat of bulls in spring and females in autumn. This reflects the seasonal variation in the animals' condition.
The jump was used for at least 5,000 years. In the beginning the cliff was about 20 metres high - quite enough to kill the beasts. It is about 12 metres now. The difference is made up of bison bones, and it is enough that ...
... that and the dog was happy to join in. We were surprised to see a number of trout in one of the streams flowing from the ice into a lake. It`s hard to see how they could have got there without some human help.
But after the last lake it was still a long 8 km trek home through forest. Even the dog got weary, and started to limp having worn through the pads on one of his feet. If he`s smart, next time he won`t run back and forwards so much at the start.

... little or no forethought. I began to fill out university applications in year 12 and decided that business was the most general and useful degree to take. When it later came time to choose my major, I was very good at accounting. This is where the success is dangerous thing comes into play. In my 3rd year, I came to a very painful crossroads in my life. Suddenly I was left feeling quite alone and without a firm direction in life. It was then that I wrote down on a scrap piece of ...
Blairmore, Alberta, Canada nickitamiko... guys got kicked out of camp today. We had to pack up everything and leave. The good news is that we'll probably get our jobs back next shift (the 31st) and will be back to work then. For the time being, Sierra and I are staying in Pincher Creek at her Grandmother's ranch. We'll be working a bit here and earning some money so that's good ...
Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada jphaarsma... don't know, Cardston is Mormon central. This is probably the only town in all of Canada, with any kind of measurable population, that does not have a Tim Horton's. No coffee drinking for the Mormons, so not the best place to set up shop. Nearby is the world-famous "Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump" Exhibit. Enticing as that sounds, we skipped this because of the rain.

I would recommend this history of pre-historic life to anyone interested in First Nations history.
Taken from the above website" where the foothills of the Rocky Mountains meet the great plains, one of the world's oldest, largest and best preserved buffalo jump's known to exist -- Head-Smashed-In. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981, Head-Smashed-In has been ...
