Und, das Kino, das muss ich anschaun. Mitkommen. Unweigerlich habe ich das Gefühl, dass sich alle Augen auf uns richten, wir traben in Richtung der leeren Kinosääle-Vorstellung ist nämlich erst am Abend.

Napier to Palmerston North

Alas, my final breakfast in Thorpe's. Just as great as each day but different weekend staff. Then it was off to "Palmey" to meet the Hadwin's. A great drive in good sunshine through farm land, small towns and rolling but still impressive countryside. Al and Trixie live in a retirement village on the edge of town. Unfortunately I had discovered that two days ago, Al had had a stroke. Luckily this was not a "bad ...

It Hit Me.

... drinking! I met some very cool people on my Stray bus tour of the North Island. People from all around the world who I will one day go and visit. (When I travel the globe sometime within the next 10 years). The sights I have seen, my oh my! From up above Taupo, floating out of the sky by parachute, to the most beautiful beach and amazing waves at Raglan. Rafting down the tallest waterfall legally raftable in the Southern Hemisphere. And ...

My Last Assignment Ever!!!

... s direct relationship with the Arctic ecosystem, what happens to the species directly affects their fortitude. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) aims to prevent "dangerous" climate change in order to "ensure that food production is not threatened." Well, the threat is already in the Arctic, and the Arctic Council is already working on ice conditions scenarios in 2020 ...

Flat Life and a New Semester

... would be the trip of a lifetime :) Well, that's it for now... the following pics are mostly from a flat warming party that we had next door last week. It was complete with a keg and a DJ! They don't really do kegs here in NZ because they are SO expensive, but we had a ton of people put in about $10 each to go in on one. I even did a keg stand, but due to the lack of keg-stand knowledge in this country, whoever was holding me up did not put my legs down properly ...

... them work! Didn't get to do very much, walked one of teh horses around after it had been washed off and then had to stand nect to another called Romp as she kept scraping her front hoofs on the ground and they don't like her doing it. Went back to the house around 10ish and did some more gardening for a few hours, potting bulbs and the like again. Spent the evening in our room, apart from helping out with dinner (chicken wraps). And ...

On Kiwi Culture...

... was in that class as well. So then I walk into the class and the prof. looks very similar to my advisor, and professor Dr. Levi from Chico State. Crazy... and no matter where I am, I constantly see people's "twins". A funny thing that happened today... there is a Kiwi guy named Evan who lives on my floor, and I hadn't really talked to him too much until today. He heard me say something to Betsy, a girl from Georgia who lives on our floor and he goes; "Woa, is she American too ...

A mouse lived in a windmill...but not one of these

... look nice. Actually, let's get something straight here. Palmerston North is really not as bad as everyone makes out. It has shops for a start, unlike most other places in NZ; it has a river, parks, a colourful town centre, and it is near other nice places to see. The roads are wide, the houses unique and colourful. It is actually quite pleasant and I feel it gets a hard time all things considered. Anyway ...

On the way at last

... off the plane (one of the advantages of business class) but I chose the wrong arrival line! I was standing beside a woman who was a bit concerned, as for some reason, the finger and eye readers often didn't recognise that she was who she was, and she would get taken off to a room somewhere for 30 minutes while her identity was confirmed.. This had occured because the first time she had to give all her identification info and prints, she was crossing the border by land ...

Palmy City... Earthquake!

... much to do.... but we did get to chat loads throughout the day and evening..... Oh, talking about the evening, tonight was fun.... we had an Earthquake... a real one... it was cool.... This is from the news website: The earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale and centred about 110 kilometres north-east of the capital Wellington shook the southern part of New Zealand's North Island ...
