... energy or maybe they had a low glycemic index. With that breakfast, I was able to hike 15 miles non stop and without even getting hungry. The trail stayed high on the ridge for most of the day, where from up above, lakes were visible. Eventually the trail took me to Deadfall lake, where I finally caught up with Cuban B and TooMuch. Cuban B, Too Much, and Myself called the shuttle service posted on the trailhead to pick us up ...

... Valley Creek. There was lots of climbing today. I think the cumulative elevation gain today was about 5000-5500. Oh, and bushwhacking through poison ivy and poison oak. It felt like a jungle today. The tree canopy was thick, with tall Douglas Firs and Cedar Trees and Oak Trees too. Eventually the trail made a bend to where it grants you epic front row views of Mt. Shasta with a summer thunderstorm rolling in. As I write this, I can see Shasta be bombarded with lightning. ...

... Uncle's house in Lincoln, CA for a wonderful visit, followed by dinner at their clubhouse with my cousin and her husband.  We checked in with Mark, the owner of Eden Vale Inn, who also is my cousin, to get directions.  Still using Google Maps, my navigator takes us on a completely different route but we get there anyway in 45 minutes. After staying up late having a couple glasses of wine and catching up with Mark and Gayle, we finally hit the hay about 11:30 ...
