Beautiful drive down the 280 to Felton to catch up with my old school buddy, Don Lobete and his wife Ronnie who have lived in Felton near Santa Cruz for 14 or so years. Famous for the giant redwoods at Henry Cowell Redwood State Park which we spent the morning hiking around. Incredible size to these freaks of nature with some thousands of years old. Up early to go whale watching in Monterey Bay. We left from the Old Fisherman's Wharf on the Sea Wolf II.
Tested out the new binos by observing the sea lions and sea otters that have made to harbour their home. The sea lions are rather entertaining with their porpoising and jostling over the best sunbathing spots. The otters are very busy diving for food then lying on their backs on the surface to eat it.
