... the evenings. At the suggestion of my wonderful house-sitters, Larry and Ellen, I threw in a light fleece jacket and a raincoat, "just in case."
It may be summer in parts of this hemisphere, but they sure haven't gotten the word in the places I've been so far. It was sunny, but cool in Cle Elum (~60), rainy and cold in Hauser (~50), and rainy and even colder in Missoula. After checking the weather forecast for the Yellowstone/Teton area ...
... swears we will use this again when we go to Alaska. I'm not holding my breath!
We drove 5.5 hours today through some really pretty country. Eastern Washington was quite hot and dry. Idaho and Montana have plenty of trees but they are also hot. Since my mishap in the heat, I'm trying to stay out of the sun. Gary did all of the driving; I did all of the sleeping.
... to see him up close and we just couldn't believe how gigantic he was! When we were a few feet away he finally moved to the other side of the road but was still only a foot or two from the side of the truck when we snuck around him. A little too close for Aimee after that Visitor Center movie!
Yellowstone definitely made our top three National Parks list. We could have spent hours driving through ...
... out here that there are ALWAYS lines.
Tomorrow the temps in Missoula are to be unseasonably warm (90's), so we are glad that we are heading to Glacier for a few days where it is cooler.
Not sure about Wi-Fi there so may be disconnected for a few days. We know there is no cell phone service. Will still take a lot of pics.
... And fresh popped popcorn at check-in. Seriously. And it wasn't just any room: it was perfect. I cannot express the delight of discovering that immediately behind our adorable corner room (as in right out the window) was a sweet little babbling brook, some benches and picnic tables, lovely trees, and a small "backyard" for enjoying. I loved it; Indy loved it. Delight.
