... Went back to our carriage attendant who was still checking people on board and therefore couldn’t help just then. Back at the carriage a young guy confirmed that we were right and that the lady was in one of our beds (the alternative was the top bunk which we have had before and didn’t want again). The young guy gave the lady a bit of a shake and she ‘awoke’ (obviously been pulling a sham) and apologized and moved out. Hers was the ...

We went with our students for a week and it was a comedy of errors--let's see, we got in very late from our flight and the travel agency changed hotels so we could be close to the airport. I think the hotel was either under construction or being demolished! Actually, I think they were adding to the hotel, but none of us were sure. The rooms ...

... quantities of sichuan peppercorns, half dried and half fresh, still on the stem. The big bowl had a smaller bowl in the centre with the wolfberries and dates, and a few slices of king oyster mushroom. Another assistant brought over a bag (easily 2L) of crazy red chili oil and dumped it into the hot broth with the sichuan peppercorns, making it the "hot" pot. He lit the burner under the bowl, and we waited for it to come to a boil. The colour, as ...
