... got to Arcata and made plans to Meet Percy and her friend Cas at her school. Percy gave of a nice tour of the school. The area is a typical college town except it is nestled in the hills of Arcata Forest. We went to dinner in downtown Aracta. The area is quaint, but there are a LOT of homeless people in this part of the state. Not sure why, although the pot trade may have something to do with it.

We only rode 88 miles today, but we had a great evening with Percy.

... therapy to re-invigorate this quasi-directionless vagabond. Not all was lost however, because I felt well enough to explore the town and nearby Trinidad. Arcata is home to Humboldt State University which is the northernmost campus of the California State University system - wikipedia. But it's not just that: it's a tiny room, with a tiny bed, in a scary area, with people screaming at each other a few doors down, the decor is much to be desired, the shared ...

... started to hammer down once again. A cafe stop meant another rush to get to the bus and a mad dash to get some money, resulting in our bank card being left in the ATM and ultimately getting shredded. Money first, then card is a bad idea even when you're not in a rush but especially so when you have less than a minute to get back to your bus stop... It is such bad usability and sadly, still quite common ...

... they're that wide. I was almost more impressed by the fallen trees than the still-standing ones.

After a short drive, we were at another park, and we picked a few walks off the extensive park map, and headed out and about. The trees are so tall, they're exposed to the elements a lot, and the wind high up above us affects them and pushes them to and fro, they make these super creepy creaking and groaning, super loud and also very awe-inspiring, very natural and ...
