... the Prairie Creek Redwoods state park. First stop was at the Ah-Pah trail. It is a rehabilitated logging road through a small canyon. Amazing undergrowth, inspiring trees. It was the quintessential "walk in the park". We were the only ones there and it was our own little piece of paradise.

... I'm actually running out of words that mean awesome here aren't I? Ha.

Well, I thought the trees I had seen were big but some of these were just ridiculous. I mean, I can't even describe how massive they are, in height and circumference. I went on one of the hiking trails in the park which took me a couple of hours. We started the night with a drink at a small “upnort” type bar; wood paneling, taxidermy on the walls, large wood back bar and a couple of taps, of which I cannot remember the name but was on the city center square in Arcata. ... afternoon. Cole’s bike continued to run flawlessly and with the burden of uncertainty lifted (at least temporarily) we thoroughly enjoyed the 3 plus hours of undulations and sweeping turns we encountered as we followed the contour of the landscape along the two rivers. The final third of the ride along the Trinity river was particularly enjoyable as the road tightens up and the scenery transitions from arid to forested.

Hi folks back again, having spent a couple of interesting days in Arcata part of the Humbolt county of Northern California.
We saw Coastal redwood trees on the way down.
