      ... in Santa Rosa Beach. He was a famous folk artist and all-around good man. He is in heaven now, and I think he is responsible for painting some of the most colorful sunsets.

      It's going to take us a long time to get through Alabama! We'll find some interesting stops along the way.

      Sunday in Alabama. Small town America. Church seems to be a popular destination for most of the people on the roads. Mid-morning I pass a small church with a lot full of cars and three boys playing in the gravel out front. No adults around.       ... too. So we smashed a few beers and went bar hopping. We went to quite a few bars that night and finished it off with a customary late night feed. It was a good introduction to San Diego.

      We left Natchez and Mississippi and travelled across 2/3 of Alabama on Route 84. This is a state highway about 1/3 of the way up the state from the Gulf of Mexico. The town of Enterprise is the sight of the US Army Aviation Division. Along Highway 84 we saw farming, cattle ranching and a lot of forestry. Lots of logging trucks and reforestation ...
