BIG isn't necessarily Better

Sunday, Oct. 27th. We had a wonderful drive through the Arkansas Mt's along route 270 in the western part of the state. Lots of autumn colors, beautiful mountain scenery, good road. Just the time we crossed over into Oklahoma things changed a bit! The road was in poor shape and there wasn't the attention to a litter free state that we had experienced in Arkansas.

... and warm-hearted people today…what a nice town to spend a day in. As Cliff said, no one’s in a huge rush around here and everyone knows each other, so it makes for a very welcoming atmosphere. We were even told to keep the combination code to the gate lock at the fairgrounds in case we ever pass through there again and need a free place to stay. I really love small towns and I’m really humbled by how inviting they’ve been to us…

... fiasco we decided to get some lighter fluid and some presto logs. The wood was HARD wood. Oak, I'm sure. That's all over down here. Tonight I asked the attendant what kind of wood it is.. "Oak, hickory and some other wood," probably hardwood. So tonight we are ready for any wood they want to throw at us. We also found a liquor store and got some rum and Kahlua. We were on I-40 all day. We got on in construction, one lane but it was moving pretty good ...

... We heard that a complaint was going to be made as we (The Legacy Run) was not supporting the local American Legion post after they went to so much effort to provide food and drink to the Riders.

The last five bikes (inc us) made it to our hotel at 21:30 - a really long day and we were all so tired that we decided not to come back down once we got to our rooms. I stayed with Dave over night and as soon as we got into our 'Absolutely Luxurious' ...

... on north side of road for about 20 miles. Twenty miles west of Amarillo saw and smelled our first and only cattle feed lot.
