... more cattle and therefore irrigation. Pit River did have some water. About 35 miles out of Klamath Falls we came upon a huge plain which was very agricultural, with wheat potatoes and horseradish being grown! And of course lots of grass for the winter. ... here we can drive into Chelan Washington and catch a ferry to Stehekin, the southern entrance to Cascades National Park. The ferry runs the length of Lake Chelan which is about 50 miles long.
