We had a most enjoyable four days in Geraldton before heading inland again. It is a very attractive city with a large harbour and nice beaches although the weather was cool so we didn't swim but saw plenty of locals in the water. The cathedral designed by W A's architect priest, Monsignor Hawes in early 1900s is quite unusual with a distinct Mediterranean style. As we travelled inland we saw a number of his creations in small country towns. They all have a ...

... he actually moved and turned around, getting his tail off the road (wise decision) and is now facing the road. He looks at us with some suspicion, but even at half a meter distance he refuses to move. This one is actually lying in a bit of a sinuous posture, but I estimate him to be from nose to tip of the tail around 2m long. For sure a formidable dinosaur, and the top predator of the realm.

Mt. Ida was another frontier mining town that at it’s peak ...

... where they were fishing. Getting up was pretty easy, but going down was a bit tricky to find the path. Monday We originally were going to be leaving, but very quickly decided an extra day here was a good plan. Whilst today was very cloudy and not as warm as we'd hoped it turned into an amazing day. We loaded up the two cars and drove around to the other campsite and along the beach for a bit. Definitely chose the correct camp ground, they don't have ocean views here. We ...
