... Bay but will go back tomorrow for a picnic. Caity loved collecting shells on the beach and they both loved climbing through the rocks and exploring. We got home in time for lunch and the kids have been playing at the park ever since. Well, actually Oscar is resting and Caity and I got to go for a wander along the beach across the peace for a bit :) that does not happen often ...

So much for the proposed "sleep in" on our rest day.... Up at about 7am (which is really 10am in Melbourne!) and we had a lazy morning, did all of our washing, etc. We also went into town and organised some more internet access, and bought some jewellery from Prouds for Xmas presents, etc.

On the way home from the shops we did a lap around the town (surprisingly big and comprehensive), and found the gorgeous West Beach when we drove over a large hill on the ...

... Somehow the last three days since we left Ceduna have felt very isolated and even more remote than when we travelled ‘up the Centre’. I was also very much looking forward to finding a supermarket and stocking up on fresh food, so once we had set up, this was our first port of call. I perhaps got a little enthusiastic about the fresh stuff, because I then had to play a bit of Tetris to fit it all in our little fridge!

Today we picked up some bait for fishing and headed off to explore the nearby lakes and beaches. First stop was pink lake which, under certain conditions, takes on a pink colour due to certain algae. At the moment it is a very white salt lake but pretty amazing nonetheless. Then we tried a spot of fishing at the Bandy Creek harbour and then Woody Lake - caught a couple of bream in some beautiful surroundings. ...
