... landing in Lyndonville, Vermont, our home for the next three days. The land got more rugged, the trees more bare, and the scenery progressively more stunning. New Hampshire and Vermont are clearly not interested in showing off for me, because we've had generally gray, rainy weather since we left the coast. But that only served to increase the drama quotient when driving through mist-filled valleys and gazing at shrouded peaks.

This morning started out at a 'brisk' 42 degrees. We've had such a mild fall in NYC this year, it was a little shocking. But I packed for every eventuality, so a little rummaging in the car and I was all set for the day. We drove through the Berkshires to Northampton, MA where I met up with my friend Cate and her daughter Ellie for a delicious lunch ...
