... in a mine fire in the early 1900s but it just adds that extra layer or creepiness being next to a clown motel.

We had one more stop before we departed for our campground and it was quick one. We decided to check out the Goldfield hotel. It has been closed for quite some time but locally it is known for being haunted and spooky. We weren’t able to go inside unfortunately but we did read that it was featured ...

... free campsite (but with only 10 spaces) so we headed for that. The fact there was still space available at about 10pm should have been another warning. Tomorrow we will be in the park very early so we can do a walk or two before the heat gets to high and then we are off to our next ...

... the Grotto. Excluding my half hour stop at the top it had taken me a little over two hours to get up and down, not too bad given that the estimated time given was 4 hours, so it had been a good workout as well. Arriving back at the hotel on the shuttle I was in time for a quick shower before we checked out of the hotel. We had stayed in some nice accomodation on our travels as we had not really skimped on cost, but the Cliffrose Lodge was definitely the best that ...

... as we approached Tenaya Lake. In the morning sun, the blue of the water stretched out in front of us, ringed by mountains on all sides. The sunlight danced on the surface of the water, creating leaps of gold as the water rippled in the breeze. It was the perfect spot for a quick paddle, and although the water was incredibly cold, it as a refreshing way to awaken the senses ready for more spectacular viewpoints as we continued. One brave soul was swimming in the lake, but just ...
