... to stop and take some pictures, Wigmor joined us on the Dunes. Afterwards we got petrol a few miles further and there was an old fire truck at the gas station that we took pics of. The rest of the drive was broken up with overcast showers, sun and the odd photo opp. Upon reaching the next gas station near the end of Death Valley we noticed a rainbow had formed. We thought this was a one off considering where we were and drove ...

... Creek campground was our next stop and arriving there was glorious. It is an incongruous patch of green in this otherwise dead valley, all thanks to an underground spring. There was a swimming pool fed directly by the spring and we headed straight for it. Something interesting which I failed to mention earlier, is that as we drove the last leg of the journey, we could see rain falling from the clouds ahead! We were driving through one of Earth's hottest places and ...

... had "Caution Runners ahead" and had peoples names all over their cars. She was running from Death Valley all the way to Lonepine (about 100 or so km’s) and they run from 11pm through the night, how mental is that! So we told them we were heading out of this place as it’s too hot to camp, and they offered us their room as they only have it until 10pm. However, there was no way I wanted to drive back into Death Valley so we politely decline but as we ...
