    ... the pool they came back and we went to Walmart to do food shop etc... 3 hours later we visit Gold Coast for buffet because we didnt do food shop.

    ... indicating the outside temp was 117o F. We weren't arguing, it was very hot. We stopped off in a shady spot to get out and eat our rolls, then got straight back in the car. It was too unpleasant to sit out in even in the shade. At Furnace Creek there was a temp gauge and it agreed with the car's estimate of 117oF.

    ... free campsite (but with only 10 spaces) so we headed for that. The fact there was still space available at about 10pm should have been another warning. The wind that night was awful – a bit of manoeuvring of the car and plenty of string tied around the car and the tent just about kept it in place.
