... of when I open an oven door and the heat hits my eyes, but worse because there is no escape from it. It was too hot to do anything for the rest of the day, we just stayed in air conditioned areas. I did sit by the pool for a while but could only stand that for about 10 minutes in the shaded area. We were going to do some star gazing at night but it was too cloudy and at 37 degrees C at 10pm I decided to call it a night and ...

... walking the dunes at midnight. One could imagine we were a part of a camel caravan in the desert.

We had a dip in the pool to cool off before bed. The micro bats kept dipping into the pool. Apparently they live in the old mine workings.

Manuwai was a good iceman felching ice from the machine to cool the almost boiling water from the water filter outside. We were stocking up on supplies for our day in Death Valley.

... So after taking in all the sites Beatty had to offer, we were off to Death Valley. Death Valley was a mixture of mountain tops & below sea level desert spaces. We stopped at the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes for a quick hike on the dunes. This stop will be remembered for the worst bathroom of the trip so far! We jumped back in Vincent for "another" lunch of sandwiches and continued our drive to below sea level ...
