Great spot right on the water in Long Beach Washington. Free bike rentals which was great as there is a nice trail ago the ocean. Restaurant in hotel was very good and had live music every night that we were there.

... waves right from the motorhome.

We arrived to find a kite festival happening this weekend. There is an awesome boardwalk and bike trail in town and that was where the events were happening. The number of kites were unbelievable and all shapes/sizes and all kinds of people. It was really something to see. The beach was loaded with people flying their kites and spectating. Spent a couple of hours there before we went back to ...

... The poor cousin of Cannon Beach. 2nd Impression: Of course it's the opposite of Cannon Beach! These are actual residents and not just tourists. Why wouldn't they show their true selves, warts and all? Goodness knows I do back home. 3rd Impression: I keep waiting to either be offered Bath Salts or be confronted by someone who's on them. We took a tour of the main tourist/shopping strip. We found a 'Carousel Mall' where Henry and I took a turn. Most of ...

... flat, not unlike much of Florida or the area around Cape Cod. It's characterized by a broad sandy beach, sand dunes with grass, and some moss-draped trees. It's cool, often cloudy, and usually somewhat windy; rain is not rare. There are a number of small towns on the peninsula, mostly villages really, whose main industry now is ...

... feat, if even for its time. In fact, we remarked that the entire Highway 101 journey would actually be one heck of a paradise for bridge / engineering enthusiasts as it's riddled with towering and helluva long water-body-crossing structures from one end to the other.

... to discover that on Wednesdays they cancel the 2:15 showing and have a senior showing at 1:00 instead. Oh well, a day late and a dollar short...we'd about exhausted the inside activities around here so decided we'd check out the museum in Ilwaco.

On the way we came up with a way better idea - I'd discovered that there are outlet malls about 20 miles south of Astoria. Knowing Peter was looking for a Nike outlet, I sort of "mentioned" there was one there. The two ...
