We left Arata early due to warnings about construction delays on route 299. We had to be in Chico before 4 for the brewery tour at Sierra Nevada.

The route we took (299) was a great road for the bike, but the construction delays were a bit of a downer. I liked several of the small towns we rode through, especially Weaverville.

We made it to Chico by 1:30 and checked into the hotel to get ready for the tour.

We wake up around 8am after a good nights rest and decide that before check out we would go and check out the lake for an early morning dip. We walk down to the lake (about a 10minute walk) and dip our feet in. It's freezing, we can’t even think about getting in the water as the temperature outside wasn’t warm and the water was way too cold, even for Aaron. It was fun to wake up to a field, right next to us, full of horses, riders and horse trailers. I must admit that it put my cats' litter box to shame though, lol. But we saw some really beautiful horses.

The next day we headed downtown to another playground and also found a fun water fountain for the kids to play in just down the road. While walking I noticed a sign advertising live music at the downtown outdoor stage that night and then their Farmer’s Market the following night. We skipped the music since ...

... we were at last night. About that party..

It was SO COOL!! Chico is SO COOL!!!
It was a benefit party for local anti-fracking groups. There was a Rage AGainst the Machine cover band, kegs, $1.00 grilled cheese sandwiches, a fire, fire staff spinners, and like 200 hippes! What more could you ask for in a house party. Chico is a really awesome place and every night is dollar beer night someplace. This town is known for being a party town and ...
