Today we drove to the Vanderbilt mansion in Hyde park. This mansion was one of their smallest, a weekender really, although costing $2.25 miliion in the 1800s!. It was stunning. As they had no children, when they passed away the mansion was given to their niece. She tried to ...

We woke up to yet another beautiful day. We drove to Hyde Park and toured President Franklin Delano Roosevelts home and library. What an amazing man! However, the luck was all with the younger generation as Jess took the crown for Contract Rummy and Pete won at Dominoes – now they have both crowns – we’ll get them next time! It was fun to catch up with Jess and all her creations. We were also watching the Red ...

Today Jen has kindly offered to have the kids for the day so we can go and fetch the car. We got the train into Grand Central then walked across to Penn Station. On route we stopped off in Time Square where we had our photo taken by Bank of America and put up on one of the billboards for a donation for the veterans. We also saw Justin Bieber, oh so exciting, I thought he was a girl!

Once at Penn Station we caught a train to Middletown NJ, got a cab from ...
