This morning we took our time loading up the rest of our things in the RV, even took a short bike ride to clear our heads a bit. Headed out around 2pm, stopped at Cabela's and Lowes and then arrived at Twin Grove in time to build the campfire and settle into our new normal on the road. Still surreal that we are making this ...

Centralia is a true ghost town - only a few homes still stand in the area and the population as of 2010 is 10. A mine fire in 1962 continues to burn, the heat causing the streets to crack and buckle, and the US government used eminent domain in 1992 to begin relocating residents who refused to leave. 10 feet below ground the ...

Rig runs beautifully but goes through diesel fuel like a drunken sailor. Getting less than 8 mpg now, but I guess when you factor in ...

... out of the valley. The rest of the day was fairly typical of Pennsylvania so far: no huge elevation changes and some rocks but not the real bad stuff yet. I was going to do a little bit longer day since I had neroed into Boiling Springs the day before, so I pushed on to Duncannon, PA, a trail town 26 miles from Boiling Springs.

Official "trail towns" are normally pretty nice - they get that designation from the ATC, and they're generally very hiker aware and friendly since ...

... river isn't that deep in many places, but thanks to a schedules dam release we enjoyed some class 3 white water as we made our way down the river (sorry, but camera was put way before we got to the whitewater). Our boat crew had a great time trying to stay in the lead (although it really wasn't a race). ...
