... along the way. Stopped at a McDonalds in Columbus for the free wifi, whipped out the Ipad and booked a room at Fairfield Inn in Montgomery. Technology is great. After checking in they had Salisbury steak, baked potatos, green beans and salad in the lobby for us. We had been staying at Holiday Inn Expresses, but I think Fairfield Inns are winning the battle. Kasia and I woke up around 7am Wednesday morning and took a walk down by the river for a bit before walking around the downtown area. We passed by the fountain in Court Square which is a statue of Hebe ("Goddess of Youth") covering one of the city's oldest well called "Big Basin." This square also served as the local Slave Market, where slaves of all ages were auctioned (along with land and livestock) through the mid-19th century.
