    ... and their historical society has done a wonderful job of marking sites, but I find it loud and busy for a small town. The park area we are in however is very peaceful.... all we here are ducks and blue jays. We will move on to Lock # 5 in a day or so where we are told we can dock overnight in a pretty park, and then on to Mechanicville at Lock #3. ...

    ... to the waiting dock for the lock and Marty managed to get me onto the crazy high cement wall with my two lines. A guy came to talk to us and said we could not stay there, but there was a free wall on the other side in town. He opened the lock right away to get us through. These locks are different from what we are used to- this one had poles you can loop your lines around as the water goes up, and also some permanent lines hanging down to hold on to. ...

    ... out very ir had once before. We then drove up to get Otto's van, back down to load his and Milo's boats, and then off for a dinner in town. After dinner, Otto headed to Stewart's for ice cream for Milo - but got lost - while I went to Stewart's for gas and ended up meeting them there. I only got gas.

    It was a lovely way for the last paddling excursion of the season - sadly only my second!

    ... and that was after Alex bounced into me and almost knocked me overboard. Fortunately, I was able to stay in the boat. No one would have ever believed he was the cause. A couple times we entered areas of the river where all was calm and swimming was permitted. It was at one of these stops, where, for the first time, I failed when I gave a big push on Alex's back, attempting to knock him in the water and he went nowhere.
