Simla (55 miles)

I took me 2 hours to escape CO Springs. I didn't have a solid plan, other than to start making my way east and then north to get on highway 36. With some prodding from my parents, I changed route... And I'm super glad I did. I rolled into Simla after hours of hilly farmland. I knew there was a campground, but it was late and I didn't want to waste daylight looking for it. I spotted a lady outside of a cafe painting ...

Weather was nice but very windy.High temp was 85, and cooled as we drove north to San Antonio. Met Susan and Fred Meyer for dinner right off of I-10. We had a great visit talking of old times in West Virginia. Headed north through the hill country of Texas. Quite beautiful ...

On Top of the World

... freezing! So we got a few pictures and I spent the rest of the time sitting down in the gift shop/cafe. In spite of that, it was an experience not to be missed. I swear you feel like you are on top of the world. At over 14,000 feet, you are pretty close to the top of the world, and definitely the highest point as far as you can see! In case any of you don't know (I didn't before this trip), the woman who wrote ...
