        What a mixture of emotions: sad to leave the 'HF team', our 'family' for the last fortnight, sad to leave the wonderful scenery, wildlife spotting and invigorating walks yet pleased to be coming home to family and friends and our 'usual' life and delighted squared at the thought of wearing some different clothes!         When we left Valdez we fueled and then stopped at the original townsite of Valdez, before the earthquake of 1964.         We went to the Alaskan State Fair in Palmer with a beautiful mountain backdrop. We got to see the big cabbage - It's over 100 lbs.! Watched a log competition, looked at booths, Al had his yearly corn dog, and I had kettle korn. The fair is about the size of a big county fair in MN, we had lots of people-watching opportunities and it was fun!

        ... Can't believe both Matt and I forgot to use the flip/video cameras...... At the camp we had hot chocolate/ coffee and trail mix. The outhouse was quite the adventure! Sarah was quite fascinated by it and told everyone to not look down. We rode in the jet boat back, another fun ride. This time we got in the monster van first and did NOT sit in the last row.
