    ... tankers or barges. We did almost hit a drum of some kind, that was a bit scary. No matter how peaceful night crossings can be I am always scared for what I can't see in the water, and we have seen a lot of logs and debris in most places, especially on the Hudson. We did sleep a little on and off, but we were up mostly all night.     ... there when you know where to look and have some binoculars. Met 3 different couples on the boat who had been to NZ last year and know more about our birds than we did.

    Monday: We headed off for 2 nights at the Seaview golf resort for George to have a golf and car fix.

    The trip to the Niagara Falls has been abandoned and we'll go to Cape Cod via the Hamptons (Long Island) instead.

    ... come from) are expected to arrive over the next couple of days. The area is also a breeding ground for monarch butterflies who are due to take off for their migration to Mexico in a few weeks. Because they are late this year we won't see this but apparently it's quite spectacular.

    We wake up after a nice sleep in. We didn't get the best night sleep as we were up so late and had troubles going to sleep after watching a completely mind blowing movie. Plus the campground hangs up fairy lights around the place so the light shines straight through the tent and makes it less easy to sleep.

    We decide to check out Ocean City and Atlantic City today and get some coast action. So we get ourselves together and head off before 10am. ...
