Tomorrow we have about a 5 hr drive to Oxford , Alabama. We'll see what we'll see then.

... to have a pretty healthy population of locals with great access to the Atlantic Ocean. Several nice restaurants a pier with shopping etc. They have their own lighthouse which has a museum to tour. It was a good day despite the rain and cool temperatures.
I know we missed so many things in Savannah but for only have a few days to spend there we did our best to see what we could see. It was worth the stop!
We protested about leaving Charleston, having little idea of what was ahead, but Savannah Historic Town was beautiful and after a slightly cheesy tram car ride round the city to get ourselves orientated we walked oursleves to exhaustion that afternoon and the next day. Daughter insisted we needed a trip before summer vacation was over. And she's right of course. :) We decided to head to the beach...which is 5 hours away at best. We are all accustomed to living 20 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico...so this takes some getting used to. But we NEEDED the beach, not a lake front bit... a BEACH. So we decided Friday afternoon to drive south to Tybee Island...Friday afternoon.
