    ... driveway was too narrow and steep for us to get up there. After trying unsuccessfully for about half hour, very frustrated, we decided to forget about this stay. It was now 4:00 p.m. Getting dark, no place to stay, cold and windy, full of adrenaline, we decided to keep driving. 6:30 p.m. we stop for a quick supper and keep on trucking!

    Two hours into our trip...and BANG...a rock hits our windshield! This is my first windshield crack in 10+ years in my faithful car (affectionately named "Justin"....don't laugh).     ... not putting up road signs. In some places it was almost impossible to tell if we were driving on hwy 60 or some mother country road. We had to backtrack at least twice when we got lost. We don't realize how spoiled we are in good old Washington. I hope the rest of the eastern US isn't this way. Early tomorrow morning we'll do another walk and then get back on the road east.     ... still functional during tourist season but during its prominence, it was a very active business including a wheel-wright shop, sawmill and blacksmith shop. The work involved to construct this mill is phenomenal – hundreds of feet of stone aquaduct and even more wooden raceways for water not to mention all of the associated buildings.
