... those darn Pelicans are hard to catch on film, they are amazing birds huge! Average size has a 10ft wing span there are several varieties we've mostly seen the black ones and white, the black dive for their fish it's really something to watch they free fall from the sky directly into the water and pop up with a fish...the white ones open up their big bills and scoop them up more delicate. :-)

Great day to boat we traveled along the ICW a quiet place ...

... up camp for the day. They fish right off the beach apparently they fish for flounder. Very slow passed here, we were thirsty while at the beach so as we were on our beach walk we found the Tides bar and grill right on the beach ...I figure they wouldn't serve us as we both had no shoes on, Bryan had no shirt and I was in my bathing suite but nope They didn't care at all very friendly and had no issues serving!

Today was a sunny, warm day - perfect for visiting beach towns, having lunch by the ocean, taking a ferry from Carolina Beach across the coastal waterways to Southport. Colorful beach houses, gift and antique shops, lots of tourists walking the streets, sailboats on the water. A relaxing ...

... They like being home for the holidays.

What did I Learn:

  • Campgrounds can really have totally different feels, energy to them. All depends on the people running them. Just like any company huh??
  • I wish I had stayed pool side rather than going to the beach, the one day I had for sunning. Oh well, it is always good to be at the beach, but not in the wind and chill.
  • Ice cream cures all.

We had planned to visit USS North Carolina but it was raining very hard, not good to look round a warship so Peter went to the small grocery store and bought bacon, eggs & tomatoes for breakfast, also English muffins but then found there was no toaster - still was a good breakfast. I did some washing in the laundry but they wouldn't sell me any detergent so I just used the washing up liquid that was there, better ...
