It was pitch black when Maura and I drove out of The Cedars parking lot around 5 a.m. to transport Surly and I across the Mackinac Bridge. The streets of Mackinaw City were deserted except for the colossal street sweeper machine rolling along, cleaning up gutter trash left by weekend tourists in this upscale resort destination. By the time ...

The morning started with a trip to Starbucks . . . I drove this time, as there was a pretty good downpour!! BTW, we had water again!!

Relaxing at the condo, we had lunch and went to Boyne Highlands to play the Cuff Links Par 3 course. Despite asking multiple employees, we struggled to find the course. Then ...

Breakfast at a little place called Roast and Toast in the Gaslight District. Afterward, we shopped in the area and found a nice bookstore called McLean & Eakin Booksellers. Elsewhere, Peggy was in shopping heaven and bought tea, spices, cooking tools and a sweater. Before we left Petoskey, we stopped at Kilwins, a chocolate, candy and ice cream shop where tours ran all day. We took the ...

Our first golf outing as a family. It was a beautiful setting and a challenging course, especially for beginners and kids. We finished 9 holes before the storm. Lunch at the club hit the spot. Spent the afternoon watching a movie and eating dinner in. The boys went fishing and Pat caught a fish he named ...
