... are re-enactors of a time when cowboys would drive cattle across Florida, either to the Gulf coast or the Atlantic to be shipped to who ever was paying the most money. The cowboys were called crackers because of the sound the whip makes, ergo cracker trail. Many of these re-enactors are not poor by any stretch. They come pulling in with their diesel pickups and aluminum horse trailers with their living quarters in the front and ...

And the dream is set free: today we purchased an older model conversion van. It should fit two boys, their map and two dogs - plus everything else we need for our extended summer trip. Woke to the sound of music from the noisy girls next door, at least it wasn't rap, maybe they had been there for the Miley Cyrus concert. The bill was under our door, quite a shock it came to over $230 - taxes & $25 for the car park, all that & no breakfast included either! Drove to South Beach to see the lovely Art Deco hotels they're all really pretty but trouble is there's tons of traffic and absolutely nowhere to ...

... up against. Temps are supposed to dip near 40 tonight so we are bundled up as if we were camping in Oregon in the summer. But it is not summer. It is the solstice and I am far away from the freeze and snow of Chicago. And more importantly I am far from the work, not that I didn't bring any DBQ's with me. Every day I bring papers home to grade and every day I don't grade them. Why should today be different? We are in Sebastian Inlet State Park. It is surrounding one of the ...
