... we took a ride through the town and also visited the town of Mesilla. Mesilla reminded me a lot of Santa Fe, just a little smaller. Adobe buildings throughout the town, cute little shops and plenty of places to eat. Just the atmosphere reminded me of Santa Fe. I think this is my favorite place in NM.

Ran into a few showers at various times, but nothing like what Ronny & Linda drove through yesterday, apparently. Several areas were having some drainage problems, but it wasn't too difficult.
We stopped at the Walmart in Carlsbad about 1:15 and walked around a bit then took a Subway break.

While I was breaking camp the next morning, a man who was camping nearby came over and said that he noted we were from NC. He said that his family were from NC, and were from Yadkin County! His last name was Jester, and said that his grandfather was one of 10 children in the Boonville area, and the only one to leave NC for Texas! Again, small ...
