      ... We took the audio tour around the boat which took us from the bridge at the bow all the way to the isolation ward in the stern. We were fortunate when we passed the old radio room to talk to some HAM radio enthusiasts. I can see why they love sitting in a room filled with radios talking to anyone on the air because they certainly gave us the whole nine yards!

      ... got his star only about two days ago - Just missed him! His star is suitably in front of the Dolby Theatre. Dad reckons that he was one of the first New Zealanders to touch it.

      Hollywood Boulevard was a lot more run down than I was expecting it to be, probably because it's hey-day was in the 70's. There are supposedly plans to rebuild it, to give it a face lift I guess you could say, since it now has a sort of dirty, seedy vibe. The rebuilt would take about 25 years. It ...

      There were also smaller, kid-friendly rides such as "Mater's Junkyard Jamboree" which pulled you along on little tractors and the "Monster's Inc" ride which was just a little indoor cart cruise with characters and story line from the movie. The most impressive thing about the park in general was the design of the themed areas. "Car's Land" was an exact replica of Radiator Springs from the movie. It had all of the areas where the characters are based, ...

      ... who were also celebrating their 20th Wedding Anniversary. They were locals who frequent the park, they were wearing all the buttons (badges) and had the Mickey Mouse Wedding hats on complete with top hat and veil! Not really our style but it was fun to share some stories and hear some of the history of Disney, as the wife had worked at Disney before they had their children.

      ... It annoyed me that they all tried the same craft without any real variation or innovation ie. 20 jewellery stalls in a row at every tourist stop. “we have string beads already... how about some cold drinks? or some Moccasins, I’d really love some moccasins!”

      But Hils reckons it’s what they’ve been doing for generations and it’s good that they are keeping their culture alive in that way.
