Seven years ago when we were here, we had put a Walmart location into our GPS to do some shopping. This was at a place called "Pass Christian", when we got to the point that Walmart was supposed to be located all we found was a cement slab Katrina had wiped out the building and most of the coastline including the boardwalk that followed the beach. Houses near the water had been devastated.

After a grueling five days of driving, it was time to find a nice campground and hang out for a few days. My plan was to stay at the state park on the beach near Destin. But the polar vortex spoiled things, so I found an RV park near Pensacola instead. ride away) was a small touristy town where the sidewalks were lined with about
8 small airstream campers converted into snack bars, each one serving something
different; hot dogs, sandwiches, tacos, soft drinks and beer. We definitely want to plan another trip to
spend more time on the panhandle and the beaches.
