Left New Orleans heading to Pensacola. First stop was at Bellengrath Gardens in Theodore. The gardens were beautiful and the house was very impressive. I still didn't see an alligator but did see a large Gar in the bayou. We had lunch in the cafe and most people went and put their bathers on for the beach. I will give 2 hours at the beach a miss. Travelling into Mobile, it was just how you imagine. Fairly wet, swampy land. ...

We stayed in Loxley in Baldwin County and our farm wasn't even on google maps! Our host Jerod gave us directions that included such things as turn right when the gravel turns to a dirt road and take a left at the rickety bridge. Amazingly we found it really easily and what a beautiful spot it was. Sitting on the rocking chair on ...

Historic Pensacola Village

Time to explore downtown Pensacola. A cold front is moving through. Wind gusts are 15 – 20 mph. It's cloudy now, but with a promise of sunshine later.

There are whole sections of downtown Pensacola that have been or are being preserved. Parts of the town remind me of Charleston or New Orleans with balconies facing the bay and lots of wrought iron railings. The Palafox Historic District is one that has retained its historic atmosphere. ...
