After Richard golfed, Pauline did laundry and Kirk washed the car we headed to Fort Lauderdale using A1A. It clearly is Spring Break as there are lots of young people on the beach and it was a beautiful day for it. The lifeguard stations were flying green flags indicating it was OK. As usual there were large ocean-going boats anchored off the inlet into Lauderdale although the port was largely empty of commercial traffic and cruise ships.

... 4 months and the heavy rain at the airport certainly added to the depressing mood. At least I took comfort in the fact that it was only for a few days before I fly over to join her there and a new era in my life starts in a foreign country. I'm not sure what my plans are for the final 4 days here, but I don't think I will be do much adventuring; probably more preparation than anything else.

... Ball was a fancy dinner and dance to celebrate officially becoming a Semester at Sea Alumni.
Even when there was nothing going on you could always find something to do. I spent many hours playing games in the Piano Bar, suntanning on Deck 7, and watching movies in people's rooms, even though I fell asleep half the time. It was also really fun to sleep up on Deck 7 under the stars waking up to the sunrise as we traveled through the Panama Canal.

My take on this is probably going to rattle the minds of the likes of H. Norman Wright who wrote the relationship book, "Quiet Times for Couples" dedicated to helping couples achieve a deeper more resilient marriage which includes specific suggestions for accommodating differences and handling conflicts.
