        ... on the roadside; the heat and humidity of LA so after a couple of hours, the top was back down and the aircon; the weather which remained hot but down came the rain, big raindrops requiring the wipers to be on full and then it was all over and how dry California is right now as there was no green anywhere along the way.         ... where we had a very interesting tour of the mission and grounds by John, a park ranger quite knowledgeable and experienced in talking to all ages. The mission is one of 21 famous Spanish missions built over 200 years ago and connected by El Camino Real, the King's Highway.         ... had one last attempt to watch the Bellagio fountains before we headed to the airport but unfortunately they were cancelled due to the winds again. We had spectacular views of the Grand Canyon as we flew out of Vegas so we weren’t that upset at not being able to take a helicopter ride. The rest of the journey home was not so great as we had really bad turbulence for the entire 5 hour flight as we flew around the storms that were ranging in the Midwest.

        ... on a mountain top road North of the main valley. It truly was mountain top driving, elevations up to 10,000 feet, sheer granite cliffs and most of the road had no guardrails! Sara loves heights and roller coasters, but some of these curves made her stomach jump. We passed mountain steams, meadows and lakes.
