The following day, my last in Philly, I was able to take in all the tourist spots - the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall (Birthplace of the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution) and Edgar Allan Poe's house. I also got into countless conversations with people around the city, everyone just wanted to talk it seemed!

... American food is all the same and I am starting to think that if I ever see another menu selling, ribs, burgers or Caesar salad, it will be too soon! It has been a really good day, although I am still not sure about the city. Something is missing and I don't know if it is aesthetics or the people. Whatever, I think I prefer the cities further west. It will be interesting to see what Washington is like, our destination ( the last one in our trip) ...

... establishment and the atmosphere is Italian Restaurant, it was cool but no great shakes! From there we headed South to catch the ferry to Staten Island (free) for sunset where we could view Manhatten's glorious skyline and the Statue of Liberty at Sunset and back across in the dark with the glittering lights it was really, really beautiful and I would recommend if you go to New York catch the ferry to Staten Island for Sunset it is magical.

Our flight just went from 53 available seats down to 19. There are a couple of families here who having been trying for flights for as long or longer than we have. Some of them have been shuttling back and forth between bases with no luck.
