I can't say enough how excited I am to be able to participate in something like this, my family and friends have been so supportive and I couldn't begin to think of doing something like this without that! Especially my husband John who has been so supportive and appropriately concerned throughout all of the preparations- I hope he doesn't give my side of the bed to the dog permanently!
Definitely time to end this trip. A few highlights of the last two days:
Mid-morning yesterday, one of the tires on the camper blew out. Despite the 80 mph, the only casualty was the tire, shredded to pieces. In the freezing wind Victor changed it and we limped into the Stratton, CO. An hour later, we again headed out.
Halfway across Kansas, we decide to camp out one last time, toast the trip with a good Malbec. We stop at Webster State Park, and after the last fishermen pack up and ...
In 1856, the 171 foot steamboat Arabia served as a lifeline to the frontier, bringing tons of new supplies westward to settlements along the Missouri River. The big side-wheeler had just left Kansas City when her hull was suddenly pierced by a submerged tree. She sank in just minutes with all her treasures lost. Kansas City, Missouri, United States socksWe continued driving through Nebraska. At Grand Island, we headed south into Kansas. Just before the Kansas state line, we stopped in Red Cloud to see Willa Cather's childhood home. Kansas involved another two-lane road with very few towns or traffic. We were going to stop in Kansas City, but went on to Cameron instead.

In Romania, he who yells the loudest wins the argument and Fredy is undefeated. There are always arguments with various Romanian authorities about who we are, what we are doing there, etc so Fredy takes care of us. One thing nice about the trip is if I become ill, we have medicine to take care of ...
Shawnee, Kansas, United States mshields007... asked if I was parked in their driveway. I was, and we had a very nice visit. Elaine's two youngest daughters were home, as was Gary, and what a wonderful, loving family atmosphere exists there. And, Elaine's as good looking as ever! I made a reservation in a very nice motel in St. Joseph and it turned out that, once again, due to a softball tournament in town all the motel rooms were booked up by the time I arrived, and they were turning away several people.
St. Joseph, Missouri, United States montgomerylanePreparing for a trip of this magnitude is about like planning how to make the Royals a contender next year- next to impossible! I will be gone for about 3.5 months, and one of the bigger questions I had before leaving has been resolved- who will take care of my house and my dog? Enter my good buddy Travis Grosdidier. Chez Zaroor will transform into Travis's Roeland Park Resort ...
