... the Okeechobee deal. The lake/river isn't in the picture much.

I finally hit the roads to Baton Rouge and the skies opened up again. I was on I-10 for about 5 miles when I couldn't see a thing. I pulled off to another gas station and the weather front was so bad the station actually shut the pumps off for fear of lightning strike. Knowing that really helped me feel safe.

I Know how the parents felt having to give them up because they could not take care of them and I understand how the adopted parents felt taken them into their homes. Adopted Children are they are chosen and with a special kind of love. Had breakfast with an old chap who favoured us with a long monologue which was pretty difficult to hear (and escape from). After that we got on the huge, decorated, hop on hop off bus which had a good local guide. This town has an interesting history. It was originally founded by capuchin monks who were in a flood prone area and used this high ridge nearby to bury their dead eventually they moved their monastery ...
