        Rest stop

Just that. Nothing special. Stopped at a convenience store, bought a bottle of water and gave a couple cub scouts who were doing a fund raiser a few dollars. Trying to decide whether I want to spend another night on the road or save money and ride the rest of the way home. Skies are a mix of sun and large dark clouds in the distance. When the sun isn't shining it's a little cool --- high today is only around ...

Just arrived. Haven't really had a chance to check out town yet. Eating at Subway. Just finished walking more than 2 miles through the gorge. It is very beautiful and nice and cool.

Following a late lunch at Subway I went across the street to Watkins Glen State Park. The park is really amazing, you walk through a stone tunnel and then her into a gorge that is unbelievable. The sheer cliffs and the waterfalls ...

For the most part I found their white wines to be their specialty, with the exception of the semi-dry Humboldt Red that I bought which was delicious. This winery also had a patio in the back overlooking the lake, so I took the opportunity for some photos! We then hopped in the car and drove to the Hazlitt Vineyards, which were only 5 minutes away, to ...

        ... trip. =(

However, moving past the negative! The campgrounds themselves were super cool and we did get to explore a few of the trails along the Gorge Friday night and late Sunday afternoon, before and after the storms. We also broke down Saturday night, after very little food and being cooped up in the tent all day, and decided to go into town for some delicious Italian food at Jerlando's. Some of the best garlic knots I have ever had in my life! ...

... Glen in the GPS and started our trip.   The road through the Adirondack Park is very pretty.  There are lots of lakes, one prettier than the other.  If anyone wants a nice vacation just a day or so from home, I would recommend this area.  There aren't a lot of campgrounds, but there are many cottage, cabins and bed and breakfasts.  Most of the lake areas are not crowded.  They also have places ...
