    For people who love to see Aeroplane and Gliders Elmira Soaring Museum is a must visit. There are places where visitors can just sit and watch the gliders being towed up in the air, and there is also the possibility to purchase a Glider ride for yourself.

    You can look at the pictures attached and see how the tow works and how the glide works.

    We had started the trip to Watkins Glen from Edison in New Jersey in the morning hours of July 25th. Having set the paths on the GPS the route we decided on was through Scranton and Binghamton.

    When we reached, the GPS took us to the upper entrance of the Park. The Park has three places that one can enter from, the Upper Entrance, the South Entrance and the Main Entrance.

    ... and pulled the kayak up on the bank. Then we followed the sound to the falls, wading through thigh deep water to get there. The falls were a lot bigger than I expected. Some young guys had climbed up onto the falls. It looked awfully dangerous to me but that’s what young guys do. The whole trip there and back took 1 hr 45 min, beating the other couple both ways.

If you’re going all the way to Upper Entrance to catch the shuttle bus back, I suspect it might be easier to turn around at Mile Point and enjoy the gorge again on the downhill trek back to the main entrance than to go up all the steps to get to the shuttle at the upper entrance.
