... that I’m having blisters and that would get very painful and uncomfortable during the hike. Unfortunately blister plaster and bandages didn't help.

This part was the hardest. We passed a big crater with a grey lake (in summer the lake is completely dry and the bottom is full of golden sand). Everything was snow topped and I couldn’t help but draw smileys in the snow and play with the ice axe. I missed snow quite a bit.

... free falling - an absolutely insane, almost indescribable unnatural feeling that seemed never ending, it managed to be exhilarating, scary, breathtaking and surreal all at the same time it was also bloody freezing (apparently we had underestimated this in our clothing choices)! ... Mount Doom. From the top, the only way was down! I was extremely excited that the rest of the walk was all a descent. How wrong was I. The first 'hard descent' was down a sand dune. It was like skiing without skis on sand. You had to slide down a very steep rock which caused Tor, Ben and I all to fall over. Surprisingly Scar made it without ending up on her bum which is quite novel. We sat down to have lunch by the Blue Lake which was beautiful. It was about 11am so ...
