I woke up at 5am this morning, ready to take on our longest ride yet. Half asleep, I ran into Christine in the bathroom, who had to repeat to me three times that there were severe weather conditions outside (thunder, lightning, monsoons) before I actually understood what was going on. ... to ride because of the weather; thankfully, our hosts were able to find some school buses to transport our bikes and persons about 95 miles to our next town. Buttttt we weren't able to get the buses until later in the afternoon. So after getting our bikes ready, changing our of our riding clothes, changing our bags, packing the trailer, it was only 9:00am and still pouring. The site has a tremendous monument to the whole war as the National Park Service were aware that the Battle of Shiloh and the siege of Corinth changed the shape of the war. More officers from these battles got promotion subsequently in the war ...
... bed and we stayed up reminiscing. Not too late though as Don had to work the next day and would be heading out very early. We said our goodbyes to him before heading off to bed. It wasn't until the next mroning that we realised we had been so busy catching up we had not taken any photos so just before heading off we took some pictures of Lisa and the girls out on the patio. The morning sun was so bright we were all squinting a bit.
